Signs you need a hearing test
Hearing loss is often slow and gradual. Here are some of the signs you can look out for:
Difficulty hearing the TV clearly
You may find the sound unclear, often turning the volume up or using the subtitles. Also, friends and family comment that the TV is loud.
Trouble hearing phone conversations
You struggle to follow conversations on the phone, asking people to repeat. You may turn the volume up or use loudspeaker to hear better.
Difficulty hearing in noisy places

The appointment was thorough and the procedure was well explained. My eating has been progressively getting worse over the years. The amount of wax removed from my left ear was a shock.once removed I had my free eating test which was also quick. I've had my ears syringed once before with the water blast in your ear so didn't fancy that again! Did some Googling and found Direct Ear Care, local by. Reviews looked great so I made an appointment for ear wax removal by microsuction. Arrived at the appointment a bit nervous, but Ibrahim was great, calmed me down, assessed the job at hand with great delicacy and then pulled out 2 marble size wax balls from my ears!!! Who knew! Mike Smithson185 days agoGreat from start to finish. I'd booked online for a 15-minute free hearing check but I was fairly sure that the problem was blockage due to ear wax. Ibrahim checked and showed me the images from inside my ears showing the blockage. I'd been expecting to have to come back at a later date but he offered to clear them there and then. He explained everything he was going to do and afterwards showed me the images which showed a clear path to the ear drum. He then gave me a hearing check which, I'm pleased to say, showed I have very good hearing (for a 70-year old). He wasn't by a long way the nearest audiologist to home but it was well worth the extra miles. When I left the building it was like walking into a different world!Posted on Google

I booked microsuction as I was sure that my left ear was congested with wax. All areas of the ear were examined, including a hearing test. I was advised that my ear was actually fine and did not require microsuction. I was told that I had likely got mild inflammation in my Eustachian tube. I was shown exercises to help ease the issue. How often should I have a hearing test?
If you notice a sudden or gradual change in your hearing, it’s important to have your hearing checked as soon as possible no matter your age. If you are over 50 or exposed to loud noise, we recommend you get your hearing checked every two years, regular tests help detect any early signs of hearing loss.
Is there a minimum age for your hearing tests in Bamber Bridge?
Yes, we only offer hearing test for adults aged 18 or over.
How long does a hearing test take?
The hearing test appointment takes around 20 minutes. During this time, we will discuss your concerns, assess your hearing. If further tests are needed we will book you in for a full hearing assessment which will take 60-75 minutes.

What happens if my test shows hearing loss?
If your results show hearing loss, our audiologist will explain everything clearly and talk you through your options. This might include hearing aids, further testing, or monitoring. There’s absolutely no pressure, our goal is to give you the information you need to make the right decision for you.
Do we offer home visits for hearing test?
Yes, we provide home hearing tests for those with health or mobility issues or who prefer to be seen at home.
