Microsuction

A safe, pain-free and effective method. A gentle suction device removes the ear wax safely under a microscope or endoscope. No water needed, making it a clean and comfortable treatment.

Ear irrigation

Ear irrigation is a safe and effective way to remove ear wax than the old syringing method. Warm, temperature-controlled water is gently sprayed into the ear at low pressure to dislodge the ear wax. It’s ideal for soft or stubborn ear wax and provides comfortable, effective relief.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

To make the treatment more comfortable, we recommend using olive oil drops twice a day for 2–3 days before your appointment. This softens the wax, making it easier to remove.

The full ear wax removal appointment, including consultation and hearing check, typically takes around 30–45 minutes.

Majority of the time we remove the ear wax on the same day. If your child needs a follow-up appointment, there is no additional charge.

Ear wax is a natural substance that protects and cleans the ears. However, in some children, it can build up due to:

  • Narrow ear canals – Smaller or curved canals can make it harder for the ear wax to come out naturally.
  • Overproduction of ear wax – This can happen in response to irritation or frequent cleaning.
  • Using cotton buds or fingers – Trying to remove wax at home can push it deeper into the ear, causing blockage.
  • Wearing headphones – These can prevent ear wax from naturally exiting the ear canal and lead to build-up over time.

Too much wax can cause discomfort, muffled hearing, or even affect speech and learning. Our audiologists can assess your child’s ears and remove any blockages gently and safely.

There’s no fixed schedule; it varies by child. Some may need regular removal, while others don’t. Your audiologist will give personalised advice based on your child’s needs and symptoms.

Olive oil drops can help soften ear wax, making it easier to remove, but it won’t always clear a blockage. For safe and effective results, professional ear wax removal is usually the best option.

We accept both cash and card payments with no extra fees.
