How long does the procedure take?

The procedure typically takes 30 minutes to remove ear wax from both ears.

Why do I have too much ear wax?

The amount of ear wax produced varies from person to person. Too much ear wax build-up can be due to a disruption of the self-cleaning mechanism of the ear canal. Also, it can be due to narrow or abnormal-shaped ear canals, use of cotton buds, hearing aid wearers, and frequent use of earplugs.

What is the best way to remove ear wax?

Microsuction is the best way to remove ear wax as it is safe, effective, and comfortable for the patient.

If ear wax can’t be removed in the first appointment, is there an additional fee for the second visit?

There’s no additional fee for the second visit.

How often should I have my ears cleaned?

There is not a fixed time period to have it removed as some people produce more ear wax than others. Ear wax should only be removed if you are experiencing any of the symptoms. However, we highly recommended getting your ears checked every 6 months or 12 months.

Do you charge if there is no ear wax?

Yes, if there is no ear wax, then a £20 consultation fee will apply.

How do you take payment?

You can pay by cash or card payment with no extra fee.

Do you recommend ear candle to remove ear wax?

We do not recommend ear candle as it ineffective at removing ear wax. It can lead to burns to the face and cause damage to the ear canal and eardrum. We highly recommend seeing a hearing care professional to remove ear wax.

Do we charge extra for Home-Visits?

We do not charge a call-out fee within 20 miles of the home visit from the traveling location of our audiologist. For any home visits above 20 miles, a call-out fee will apply. Please contact us for more information.
